About Us

Lambkins Montessori School opened in Sandyford in 1984 and has been caring for and educating children through the Montessori method of education ever since. Lambkins Montessori has a morning class (9am-12.30pm) and an afternoon class (1pm-4pm)

  • Both classes are led by qualified Montessori teachers.
  • All of our teachers hold current first aid certificates and have been Garda vetted.

At Lambkins we believe each child is special and unique, we do our best to develop the individual personality of each child, looking at the whole child, physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually.

What is different about Montessori?

The Montessori Classroom does not look like any other pre-school, it is a carefully prepared environment designed to reinforce the child’s independence and natural urge toward self-development. There is a wide range of Montessori materials, activities and experiences which are designed to foster physical, intellectual, creative and social independence. Each piece of material has a specific purpose and is presented in a manner that will enable the child to direct his / her own learning.

The teacher creates an environment that has freedom within limits and allows for the children to be successful. All activity is guided with a respect for self, a respect for others, and a respect for the materials. Maria Montessori felt that young children learned by doing, and that they acquired self-confidence and self-discipline by learning to concentrate on meaningful work. The Montessori Method also fosters social awareness and responsibility in children. The Montessori environment supports spontaneous learning and discovery. It centres on the individual needs of children and within this environment new information is presented by the teacher when the child is ready.
